China's Gold output, consumption advances sharply in first half

BEIJING (Scrap Register): The world's biggest gold producer and second largest consumer China's output and consumption advanced sharply in the first half of this year, said China Gold Association in its website.

China Gold Output
According to China Gold Association, country's gold output advanced by 8.94% year-on-year or 15.83 tons to 192.82 tons in the first half of this year.

China's gold mining companies produced 159.26 tons of finish gold in the first six months of this year, an increase of 8.87% year-on-year. The nonferrous byproduct of finish gold output reached 33.56 tons in H12013, an increase of 9.27%.

China Gold Consumption
China's gold consumption advanced sharply by 53.7% year-on-year or 246.78 tons to 706.36 tons in the first half of this year.

Country's gold jewelery consumption advanced 43.6% year-on-year to 383.86 tons in the first half of this year while its gold bullion consumption rose by 86.5% year-on-year to 278.81 tons.

Country's gold with gold consumption reached 10.87 tons in H1 2013, an increase of 1.1% while its industrial gold consumption reached 24.03 tons, down 1.6%. Chinese other gold consumption hit 8.79 tons of gold , an increase of 14.9%.


China's Gold imports from Hong Kong
China's gold imports from Hong Kong reached 517.92 tons in the first half of this year, as per latest data released by the Hong Kong statistics department.

--January 2013: 51.3 tons
--February 2013: 97.1 tons
--March 2013: 223.5 tons
--April 2013: approx. 80 tons
--May 2013: approx. 110 tons
--June 2013: 104.6 tons
