JAKARTA (Scrap Register): Indonesian total scrap imports rose significantly by 23.4% year-on-year to 2.40 million tons last year, as per the latest official figures.
In 2013, nation's monthly scarp imports were averaged at 200,000 tons.
Indonesia imported 572,000 tons of scrap from United States and 378,000 tons from Australia last year.
However, country's total scrap imports declined sharply by 36.8% year-on-year to 164,000 tons during December.
