LONDON (Scrap Register): Chile has planed to increase its copper output to 8.50 million tons in the next five years, and about 33% of global large mining projects will be executed in Chile, said Chile Foreign Investment Committee’s deputy director.

There will be 250 transnational suppliers in the mining field. Mining companies plan to invest $50 billion by the year 2023, reported SMM.

United States Geological Survey (USGS) data show Chile has over 200 million tons of proven copper reserves by 2015, accounting for 1/3 of global total.

Chile’s copper output was 5.81 million tons in 2015, which represents 25% of global total.
