NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production increased by 1.7 percent year-on-year to 1,738,000 net tons in the week ended February 11, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 73.4 percent, as per the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
US domestic raw steel production was 1,709,000 net tons in the week ended February 11, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 73.1 percent.
Production for the week ended February 11, 2017 is up 0.9 percent from the previous week ended February 4, 2017 when production was 1,723,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 72.7 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through February 11, 2017 was 10,300,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.4 percent. That is up 5.1 percent from the 9,803,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 70.8 percent.
