China Stainless Steel production may drop by 5% in 2017
SHANGHAI (Scrap Register): China’s stainless steel production is expected to drop by 5 percent in 2017 on a yearly basis, said Liu Yanping, Deputy Secretary-general of Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association.
In 2017, stainless steel output in China is expected to fall by 5 percent from 24.94 million tons in 2016.
China’s stainless steel capacity is estimated to grow from about 34 million tonnes in 2016 to 36 million tonnes in 2020, SMM reported.
However, the European Union has set duties of up to 35.9 percent on imports of hot-rolled flat steel from China to counter what it says are unfair subsidies in a finding challenged by Beijing.
