      In China, port stock prices kept stable. The most active DCE iron ore futures contract was up 0.68%, while SHFE rebar rose 0.53%. Spot rebar price in Beijing was flat. Spot billet prices in Tangshan lost RMB 20/t.

Buyers in need of material for Q4 delivery accepted most of the increases, and North and South European HRC indices rose during the month by €23 a ton and €38 a ton respectively.

      China's steel mills raised their production in between the demand pick-up, as crude steel output increased 3.9 percent in September from a year ago, total output for the month was 68.17 million tons, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

      United States domestic raw steel production decreased by 2.4% year-on-year to 1,590,000 net tons in the week ended October 15 this year while the capability utilization rate was 67.0 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
