KOBE (Scrap Register): The 9th International Copper Conference, organized by the Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan (MMIJ) and Japan Mining Industry Association (JMIA) will be held at “Kobe International Conference Center” in Kobe, Japan, from 13 to 16 November 2016.
Since 1987, when the series of International Copper Conferences were started in Viña del Mar, Chile, this will be the first time to be hosted in East Asian Countries. The rapid and remarkable growth of economy achieved in this area in the last couple of decades has made significant effects on the global market and the supply chain of copper. In addition, the copper smelters and refineries in this area has taken much more important position than ever in the global materials flow of recycled materials and in processing the secondary copper resources. In this context, discussion on the secured supply chain of copper, the essential material for the human life, and the sustainable development of copper industry as well as copper industry’s contribution to the sustainable development of global economy and environment at “Copper 2016” in Japan will provide a certain prospect of copper industry in the 21st century.
Copper conferences have been the place where professionals from the industry, the academia and the governments get together to exchange up-to-date information, to share the opinion, and to strengthen tie of community. Topics are widely chosen from, mining, extractive metallurgy, recycling, environmental, economy etc.
More than 200 presentations, including plenary lectures by world leaders of copper community, technical papers by outstanding professionals such as technicians, engineers, specialists, researchers, scientists, professors and so on are expected.
