MUMBAI (Scrap Register): India’s containerized shredded scrap import weekly average prices has continued to remain steady during the week ended July 14 this year, while major Indian plastic scrap prices on the Scrap Register Price Index displayed mixed trend.
Indian customs data indicated that a vessel carrying 45,000 tons of scrap from the UK was due to arrive at Kandla port at the end of the week.
Except for this reported trade, ferrous scrap purchases have continued to remain few and far between the past two weeks.
Market participants believe that the ongoing monsoon season is one of the prime reasons behind the slowdown in bulk purchases of scrap.
The plastic scrap commodities like ABS(bayr), Acrylic and C.P.W showed an up trend on the Scrap Register Price Index during the week, while HD Blowing, Hips(Baff), HD Moulding (Colour), LLDP Blowing, PVC pest grade and PVC resin desi showed a down trend.
