MUMBAI (Scrap Register): India’s containerized shredded scrap import weekly average prices has remained steady during the week ended July 28 this year, while major Indian plastic scrap prices on the Scrap Register Price Index displayed a mixed trend.
After remaining quiet the past few weeks, Indian steel mills have turned active in booking imported scrap vessels.
According to sources a number of HMS scrap cargoes have been booked ex-Dubai, all at similar price levels seen recently.
In Pakistan the ferrous scrap market remained stagnant again with no new bookings heard this week. Offers for containerized scrap have however moved up around $5 a ton on the week.
The plastic scrap commodities like ABS (bayr), Acrylic, C.P.W HD Blowing and Hips (Baff) showed an up trend on the Scrap Register Price Index during the week, while HD Moulding (Colour), LLDP Blowing, PVC pest grade and PVC resin desi showed a down trend.
