US Raw Steel production increases 5.1% to 1,740,000 net tons
NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production has increased by 5.1 percent year-on-year to 1,740,000 net tons in the week ended on August 26, while the capability utilization rate was 74.6 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
US domestic raw steel production was 1,655,000 net tons in the week ended August 26, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 70.8 percent.
Raw Steel production for the week ended August 26, 2017 is down 1.3 percent from the previous week ending August 19, 2017 when production was 1,763,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 75.6 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through August 26, 2017 was 59,153,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.6 percent. That is up 3.0 percent from the 57,416,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.2 percent.
