Perth Mint Silver sales slump to one-year low; Gold sales down 2.3%


PERTH (Scrap Register): The Perth Mint's August silver sales slumped to the lowest level in a year, while gold products sales fell to 2.3 percent from a month earlier, said the mint in a blog post.

The Perth Mint's Silver sales during the month of August fell to the lowest level since August 2016 at 392,091 ounces, down 66.4 percent from July.

The Perth Mint's sales of gold coins and minted bars declined to 23,130 ounces during the month of August this year from 23,675 ounces a month ago.

The Perth Mint refines more than 90 percent of newly mined gold in Australia, the world's No. 2 gold producer after China.
