Chinese Steel exports to Latin America increase 11% during Jan-July
SHANGHAI (Scrap Register): During the initial seven months of the current year, Steel imports by Latin America from China was seen at 4.6 million tons, which increased by about 11 percent when compared to the corresponding period last year, as per regional steel industry association Alacero.
In those 4.6 million tons imports, 4.1 million tons were rolled steel products 494000 tons were end-user products, compared with 3.6 million tons of finished steel and 467000 tons of end user products in the same period of 2016.
Central America was seen to be the main exports destination for Chinese Steel, which received 934000 tons during the corresponding period, while Chile received 842000 tons and Peru received 641000 tons.
Flat Steel products imports by Latin America from China during the period were seen at 3.1 million tons, which contributes about 67 percent of total steel exports to the region.
