US domestic Raw Steel production increases by 8.9% to 1,733,000 net tons
NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production increased by 8.9 percent to 1,733,000 net tons in the week ended on September 9, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.3 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
United States domestic raw steel production was 1,591,000 net tons in the week ended September 9, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 68.0 percent.
Production for the week ended September 9, 2017 is down 0.8 percent from the previous week ended September 2, 2017 when production was 1,747,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.9 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through September 9, 2017 was 62,633,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.6 percent. That is up 3.3 percent from the 60,616,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.1 percent.
