ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import weekly average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) have gained further by $16 a ton to $355 a ton during the week ended August 18, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
After the sharp increase in prices over the past few weeks the market seems to have calmed somewhat, with no trades being reported into Turkey until late in the week, when three cargoes (two ex-UK and one ex-Canada) were heard at various price levels for 80:20.
S&P Global Platts reported that Turkish domestic rebar demand may slow during the 10-day Eid holiday, causing producers and buyers to behave more cautiously due to input costs continuing to rise in the form of scrap and billets.
