Taiwan Containerized Scrap import prices continue to advance to $290 a ton
TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports continued to advance by $10 a ton to $290 a ton during the week ended August 11, according to the figures from The Steel Index.
Taiwanese imported ISRI grade scrap prices continued to surge during the week, reaching $290 a ton, as suppliers remained firm on their offer prices.
Some deals were concluded but these volumes were limited as suppliers did not want to over promise material, due to high demand from the international market.
The Taiwanese domestic market demand for finished long products remained relatively weak, but buying has begun to increase due to fear that prices will continue to rise because of scrap prices.
