US domestic Raw Steel production increases 5.2% to 1,741,000 net tons
NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production has increased by 5.2 percent to 1,741,000 net tons in the week ended on October 7, 2017, while the capability utilization rate was 74.7 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
United States domestic raw steel production was 1,655,000 net tons in the week ended October 7, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 70.8 percent.
Production for the week ended October 7, 2017 is up 2.1 percent from the previous week ended September 30, 2017 when production was 1,706,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 73.2 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through October 7, 2017 was 69,545,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.6 percent. That is up 3.7 percent from the 67,045,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.2 percent.
