Japanese Zinc demand shoots up to 393 kilo tons during Jan-Sept
TOKYO (Scrap Register): Japanese zinc demand shot up by 13 percent year-on-year to 393 kilo tons during January to September this year, according to the latest data released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics.
Global zinc demand was 279 kilo tons higher as compared to January to September 2016. Chinese apparent zinc demand was 4945 kt which is just over 46 per cent of the global total.
Global refined zinc production climbed by 0.1 per cent and consumption was 2.7 per cent higher than the levels recorded one year earlier.
Global zinc market was in deficit by 504 kilo tons during January to September 2017 which compares with a deficit of 202 kilo tons recorded in the whole of the previous year.
