US domestic Raw Steel production down by 2.5% to 1,693,000 net tons
NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production has decreased by 2.5 percent to 1,693,000 net tons in the week ended on January 20, 2018 while the capability utilization rate was 72.6 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
United States domestic raw steel production was 1,736,000 net tons in the week ended January 20, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 74.5 percent.
Production for the week ended January 20, 2018 is down 0.8 percent from the previous week ended January 13, 2018 when production was 1,707,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 73.2 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through January 20, 2018 was 4,803,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.1 percent. That is down 3.2 percent from the 4,960,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.5 percent.
