Australia Iron Ore exports rebound in April

CANBERRA (Scrap Register): Australia's iron ore exports recorded a 20% rise in April after being hit by a cyclone the prior month, which closed ports and impeded mining operations in Western Australia state.

The country exported 69.1 million tonnes of iron ore in April, rose from 57.5 million tonnes in March, Reuters reported citing preliminary figures compiled by Refinitiv, based on vessel-tracking and port data.

In the first four months of 2019, Australia's exports were 259 million tonnes, down from 280 million for the same period a year earlier, hurt mainly by a 13.3 million tonne drop in March.
