Latin America's finished Steel production drops 5% in Q1 2019
BRASILIA (Scrap Register): Latin America's finished steel production declined 5% from a year earlier to 15.44 million tonnes during the first three months of 2019, according to latest figures from regional steel association Alacero.
The region's finished steel production in March recorded at 5.16 million tonnes, rose 3.09% from 5 million tonnes in February but down 11% year-on-year.
Latin America's finished steel consumption during the first quarter of 2019 recorded at 12.7 million tonnes, down 6% from a year earlier.
Finished steel consumption advanced 10.38% from 4.02 million tonnes in February to 4.48 million tonnes in March, but down 8% year-on-year.
