Peru Copper production up 4.7% in March


LIMA (Scrap Register): Peru's domestic copper production reported a year-on-year growth of 4.7% in March, according to the latest report of the Mining Statistical Bulletin issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM).

The rise in production is on the back of higher tonnage processed by the mining company Cerro Verde (2.8%), Antamina (11.6%) and Southern Peru Copper Corporation (39.8%).

Copper production in March was 19.2% higher than the previous month, which contributed to an increase of 3.5% in the accumulated period from January to March 2019 compared to the production during the first quarter of 2018.
