US rebar imports fall 5.4% in March


NEW YORK (Scrap Register): The United States imported a total of around 92,000 tonnes of rebar in March of this year, declined by 5.4% compared to the previous month, according to the final Census Bureau data lately released by the US Department of Commerce (USDOC).

The import value was around US$48 million, down from US$52 million of last month.

Spain is the largest source of rebar into the country during the month with around 56,000 tonnes. The other main sources included Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Turkey, with the imports of 16,000 tonnes, 10,600 tonnes, 5,600 tonnes and 2,200 tonnes respectively.
