Global Stainless Steel production declines 2.5% in Q1 2019
BRUSSELS (Scrap Register): World stainless crude steel production decreased by 2.5% from a year earlier to 12.5 million tonnes during the first three months of 2019, according to latest figures released by the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF).
World stainless crude steel production reached 12.78 million tonnes in the in the first quarter of 2018.
Meanwhile, global production on a quarterly basis increased 5.4% from 1.82 million tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2018.
China, the largest producer of stainless crude steel, produced 6.43 million tonnes during the first quarter of 2019, rose 4.4% from previous quarter but down 1.5% year-on-year.
