China's Crude Steel production drops 2.63% m/m in July

BEIJING (Scrap Register): China's monthly crude steel output fell for a second straight month in July, official data showed on Wednesday, as steel mills trimmed output amid heightened environmental measures and record raw material prices.

The world's top steelmaker produced 85.22 million tonnes of crude steel last month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed, down 2.63% from 87.53 million tonnes in June but still well above 81.24 million tonnes a year earlier.

In the first seven months, China churned out 577.06 million tonnes of steel, up 9% from the same period last year, the NBS data showed.
