Brazilian Crude Steel output drops 7.3% in Jan-Sep
BRASILIA (Scrap Register): Brazilian crude steel production reached 24.6 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2019, down 7.3% from the same period last year, according to the latest figures released by the Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil).
Production of rolled products was 17.3 million tonnes, down 3.2% compared to 17.85 million tonnes in the same period in 2018.
Semi-finished products output totaled 6.5 million tonnes during January to September, 2019, declined 10.9% year-on-year.
In September 2019, Brazilian crude steel production was 2.4 million tonnes, a decrease of 22.0% compared to the same month of 2018.
Rolled steel production was 1.9 million tons, 8 4% lower than in September 2018.
Production of semi-finished products recorded at 670000 tonnes, a 13.0% decrease compared to the same month of 2018.
